I am loving on Moodstruck Minerals Pigment Powder by Younique. These pigments are gorgeous and long-lasting. I have several shades that I have been trying, but right now I am in love with Sassy, which is a pinkish color. I never thought pink eye shadow looked good, but I love it!
Younique is a newer company that is selling products that are chemical free. Their eye pigments contain: mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, Bismuth Oxychloride Carmine, and Zinc Oxide. Basically all natural occurring minerals. The container that the moodstruck minerals pigment powder comes in reminds me of bare minerals. You shake a little bit of the pigment powder in the cap and brush it on. I am pretty sure this eyeshadow will last me forever! I barely have to use any to get a completely full-coverage look.
The moodstruck minerals comes in a ton of shades from very dark to very bright! At $10 a shade, I don’t think you can go wrong!
If you are interested in learning more about Younique and their products, contact Heather Jadus, she is a consultant with Younique.
I give props to Younique for being natural and having a great product at great prices!! Two paws up!
My mom, sister and I
In lieu of my usual beauty product review I am going to get a little personal. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer less than a week ago. Since that time, our whole family has had up and downs with the emotions. Tonight is definitely an up.
After meeting with her dr. the news is wonderful! The cancer is barely measurable in her breast and has not spread anywhere. A simple lumpectomy and radiation should do the trick. Of course it is a bit more complicated than that, but it is wonderful news! My mom will have the summer full of appointments and radiation, but the upside is she won’t miss work as she is a teacher.
This is a huge wake-up call for me. I don’t do self exams and I think that cancer is never going to happen to me or my family, but it can and it does. So be vigilant, check yourself, go to the doctor and be healthy!
I would welcome your experiences and thoughts about breast cancer.
Friday’s post will be back to the norm! I will be reviewing Younique’s eyeshadows
Pacific Eyeshadow Duo
Pacific on my lids
In May’s Glam Bag, was a really cute eyeshadow duo from a brand called Pacifica. They eyeshadow shade was Celestial and Opal. Love these colors. This eyeshadow is now my daily go-to eyeshadow. Its a great, light summer color with lots of shimmer.
Pacifica is 100% vegan and cruelty free! I love that Ipsy is really branching out with the brands they send to subscribers. The eyeshadow shades that Pacifica offers are beautiful and come at an affordable price. Pacifica also sells other cosmetic products that are all 100% vegan.
I give the Pacifica duo eyeshadow two paws up!

This month’s glam bag came chock full of moisturizers and other facial scrubs and peels. Although I use a scrub once a week or so on my face, I have never used a microdermabrasion. I was excited to try Derma E Micodermabrashion Scrub. I went online to learn more about the company and product since it was a new name to me. Imagine my surprise when I learned this company only used natural ingredients in their products! I always love chemically-free products! Kudos Derma E.
So this microdermabrasion scrub is loaded with great ingredients including sea salt, lime and lemon peel and Vitamin E. I used a small amount to start and that’s all I really needed to scrub my whole face. It’s definitely a strong scrub! I was a little concerned that this would irritate my sensitive rosacea skin, but it just made me a little red, nothing more. I scrubbed very gently for a minute per the instructions. My face felt awesome! I do scrub once or twice a week, but my scrubs are nothing like Derma E’s scrub. On Derma E’s website they also mention you can use this scrub for rough areas on your body. I will definitely be trying that! The price point for the scrub is pretty decent compared to other products out there.
I will definitely continue to use the sample that came in my May Glam Bag. I probably wouldn’t spend the money on the microdermabrasion scrub only because I would prefer to spend my money on makeup products.
Derma E’s Microdermabrasion Scrub gets two paws up!
In my quest to undestand primers, I have once again given a primer a try, this time I tried Younique’s Moodstruck Glorious Face & Eye Primer. This primer is part of Younique’s line of products that are chemical-free. The primer is very silky and goes on easy, but you all know how I feel about primer. I just don’t think it does anything!
I have been using it for about a week, but haven’t noticed anything. The primer doesn’t cause any negative issues, but I am convinced the primer is just a gimmick. So today I put primer on half my face and took a pic right after my makeup was applied. Then after a full 8+ hour day, I took another picture. (its scary, sorry). I wanted to see if there were any differences at all in the side with primer and the side without. I felt this was really the only way to truly find out if this primer is all that it’s cracked up to be.
See the pictures for yourself and you be the judge. I wore the primer on my left side. In my after pictures I definitely notice more of a shine to that side of the face and it definitely feels greasier than the side without primer. But other than that, I don’t notice anything.
This primer is two paws down!
Vaseline is a pretty versatile beauty product. Similar to coconut oil, it has a myriad of uses in your bathroom. It is cheap, easy-to-find, and is non-toxic. It is super thick and super moisturizing making it great for thick, dry areas like your elbows and heels. Here are some other ways to incorporate vaseline into your beauty routine:
- Put it on your eyelashes at night to make them more lush
- Use vaseline as a make-up remover
- Soften cuticles by rubbing vaseline into them
- Lip balm
- Slather it on your face during the winter to get soft, supple skin
How do you use vaseline? Let me know how you incorporate this versatile beauty product in your routine!
After a brief break I am back to bring you awesome reviews on the latest make-up and beauty products. You can expect to hear from me Wednesdays and Fridays! As always, feel free to email me questions or to request my trying out a product.
Lashes are like the stilettos of your face. They top your look off enhancing your features and drawing attention to your eyes. Most of us, me included, are not blessed with long, lush lashes (although so many guys are, shame). So to make our lashes pop we either experiment with hundreds of different mascaras or try fake eyelashes. I LOVE fake eyelashes. You can do so many different looks with them and they just make you feel sultry, but putting them on can be a process. It’s a 50/50 shot whether I am going to get it on or stuck to my face!
Enter, Younique. A newcomer to the makeup market boasting a line of mineral products that don’t contain harsh ingredients. They also carry Younique 3D Fiber Lashes. These fiber lashes are the bomb! Simply apply a light coat of your favorite mascara then Younique’s transplanting gel followed by the fiber lashes. Bam! You have sultry, lush lashes in seconds.
The pic is of my friend using Younique on her left lashes and regular mascara on her right. I apparently have not yet mastered a mascara selfie 🙂
I love these lashes and think they are great. I don’t use them on a day-to-day basis but for going out I skip the falsies and go straight to these.
Let me know if you have used these and what your thoughts are. I also have some other products from Younique that I will review as well.
I am giving Younique’s 3D Fiber Lashes 2 paws up!
I recently watched one of Jaclyn Hill’s videos where she used Urban Decay Make-up Setting Spray. Because I take her to be an expert on all things make-up I had to get it and of course I had a need for it. I put my makeup on at 6am. I can’t possibly think it’s going to last through until the evening, especially with a mid-afternoon workout. When I use the Urban Decay All Nighter spray my makeup lasts all day and into the evening. I don’t know what’s in this stuff but it works. My face stays put!
I give this two paws up!
Have you used this spray? What do you think?
Beauty Blenders are all the rage these days, or at least that’s what it feels like. Head into Sephora and you can bet that one of the consultants is using one on a client. I was first introduced to a Beauty Blender in one of Jaclyn Hill’s videos. The Beauty Blender is an egg shaped sponge that is designed to give you a flawless finish when applying your foundation and concealer.
The best way to use the beauty blender is to get it wet (it doubles in size) and then wring it out so it is just damp. In videos I have watched people dot the foundation on their face first and then use the beauty blender to blend it into the face. I don’t use my beauty blender for foundation so I can’t attest to how it works. I do however use the beauty blender for concealer. I just stipple the blender under my eyes and on blemishes and it pushes the concealer into my face.
I will say when I use the beauty blender I notice that my concealer is less cakey. I think that is due to the fact that the blender is damp. I prefer to use the beauty blender for concealer rather than using a concealer brush.
The Beauty Blender isn’t really a miracle product but it is fun to use.
The Beauty Blender gets a whisker twitch! (so-so)
As you all know, I have had a heck of a time trying to find a concealer that covers up my ridiculous dark circles and doesn’t settle into the lines underneath my eyes. I have tried everything–or so I thought. I was at Sephora the other day and the consultant introduced me to Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I had never tried the radiant creamy concealer and was definitely skeptical about it.
I totally noticed a difference the first day I wore the Nars concealer. I looked brighter under my eyes ( my dark circles were still showing, but definitely not as bad) and I had no cakeyness under my eyes. It went on pretty easy. I didn’t use the wand, instead I used a wet beauty blender which I swear by. Not only did the concealer work well under my eyes it also worked to cover some redness on my cheeks.
I am about day 3 into the concealer and still like it. I am reading reviews on it and lots of people say its cakey but I definitely don’t think so.
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer gets one paw up–still need to determine if its a keeper.
What is your favorite concealer?
