My Favorite Things – Vaseline

vaseline-450x450_tcm72-298021Vaseline is a pretty versatile beauty product. Similar to coconut oil, it has a myriad of uses in your bathroom. It is cheap, easy-to-find, and is non-toxic.  It is super thick and super moisturizing making it great for thick, dry areas like your elbows and heels. Here are some other ways to incorporate vaseline into your beauty routine:

  1. Put it on your eyelashes at night to make them more lush
  2. Use vaseline as a make-up remover
  3. Soften cuticles by rubbing vaseline into them
  4. Lip balm
  5. Slather it on your face during the winter to get soft, supple skin

How do you use vaseline? Let me know how you incorporate this versatile beauty product in your routine!

My Favorite Things: Urban Decay All Nighter

allnightersprayI recently watched one of Jaclyn Hill’s videos where she used Urban Decay Make-up Setting Spray. Because I take her to be an expert on all things make-up I had to get it and of course I had a need for it. I put my makeup on at 6am. I can’t possibly think it’s going to last through until the evening, especially with a mid-afternoon workout. When I use the Urban Decay All Nighter spray my makeup lasts all day and into the evening. I don’t know what’s in this stuff but it works. My face stays put!

I give this two paws up!

Have you used this spray? What do you think?

My Favorite Things: Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner

I love black eyeliner. I never leave home without it on. Ever since I started wearing makeup I have worn black eyeliner. I look and feel naked without it. It hasn’t always been easy loving black eyeliner. Over the years I have tried and been disappointed with most black eyeliners–pencils, liquids, gels–none of them had any staying power and were washed away within hours.

Then Maybelline made this incredible gel eyeliner. It is better than any expensive brand eyeliner out there. The staying power is insane! I seriously have to try hard to get it off. The Eye Studio Gel Liner is smudge proof and waterproof for 24 hours. It is safe for sensitive eyes and is oil free.

If you love black eyeliner and haven’t been able to find one with staying power, this one is for you. It’s cheap, and works incredibly well. One word of advice- the brush that comes with it sucks. I use an angled eyeliner brush from Sephora. It’s much easier to apply the eyeliner with that type of brush than the one that comes in the package.

So go out and try this eyeliner and tell me what you think. You WON’T be disappointed. This eyeliner gets the very rare 4 paws up!

My Favorite Things – Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick

Urban-Decay-Revolution-Lipstick-1All my readers at Purrfectly Beautiful know that this kitty loves lipstick. And my all-time favorite lipstick these days (it could change at any minute) is Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipsticks.  These lipsticks are EVERYTHING! The colors are totally fab! Bright, bold, look at me colors, that make you strut your stuff when wearing them, I’m not kidding!  My two favorite colors are Anarchy and Obsessed.

The wear time on this lipstick is insane! It lasts 8+ hours. I am a huge water drinker and even through multiple water bottles my lipstick lasts 8 hours. I apply first thing in the AM and that’s it-it lasts all day. There is nothing I love more than long-wearing lipstick.

Another thing I LOVE about this lipstick it is made without parabens, sulfates and phtalates! Those are horrible icky things that I don’t like in my make-up.

There is a color for everyone in the Revolution Lipstick line. Urban Decay will not disappoint you! Go out and get this lipstick and send me your lip pics!

I give this lipstick 4 paws up!

My Favorite Things – Coconut Oil

I am in love with using coconut oil forcoconut-oil beauty purposes.  Prior to using coconut oil, I had read many things on Pinterest about the benefits of using coconut oil, but I never tried it until I was totally desperate with a terrible breakout.

Rewind to July 2013. I had a terrible breakout of Perioral Dermatitis.  I had tiny red bumps and breakouts on my chin that would NOT go away.  I felt like an ogre.  I tried creams and pills from my dermatologist but nothing was making this hideous breakout go away. Then I started researching homeopathic remedies for Perioral Dermatitis and stumbled across using coconut oil to get rid of the breakout.

I headed to the grocery store and found coconut oil in the baking section. I was very skeptical about using it and kept the receipt, because dang, that stuff is expensive.

Within one week the Perioral Dermatitis that haunted me for months was gone. I couldn’t believe it.  I did more research about coconut oil uses.  I began using it as a heavy duty moisturizer and as a hair mask once a week.

I think coconut oil is a miracle beauty item.  It smells like the beach and is so organic and natural to use. I regularly slather it on my face before bed.  My fiance has found that using it with his shampoo has cured his flaky scalp!

Now the newest craze with coconut oil is “oil pulling” have you ever done it? I want to try it, but I hate the taste of coconut oil. I made my fiance do it last night and will make him continue to do it to see if he receives any benefits from it. I think coconut oil is the new “miracle” out there and cures everything, kind of like Windex does for the Greeks! LOL

Head out to your store and start using coconut oil right away!

My Favorite Brush – Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki

F80-2I am in love with a makeup brush and I have to tell the whole world about it! My fav makeup guru, Jaclyn Hill, turned me on to this brush–Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki. This brush is the bomb! I can’t say enough awesome things about it.

Prior to using the Sigma brush, I used my fingers to apply my foundation or a sponge. I will NEVER go back to doing that again. Using the F80 brush to apply foundation gives you an airbrushed look to your face and the foundation just goes on flawlessly.

The F80 is made with Sigma Beauty’s Synthetic Sigmax HD filament. The bristles are incredibly soft and dense.  Because of the way the bristles are designed, your foundation goes on seamlessly.  Its a relatively inexpensive brush, but it’s worth every penny.  You will be enjoying this brush for years.

I give this brush 4 paws up!

If you are interested in seeing some video tutorials using the F80 check out Jaclyn Hill.  You can also purchase the Sigma Kabuki F80 at http://www.sigmabeauty.com
